Case Study: Calistoga
Travel Posters

For a project on Human Centered Design, and the research involved, I was assigned to make a series of travel posters for Calistoga, California - a place I had never been to.

The first step of the project was to research various vacation and travel sites to find the most popular activities and destinations. After deciding on the top ten destinations (according to the research) I used those destinations to produce a set of cards to survey people with, to get them to re-order them into a preferred hierarchy.

These cards were printed out and given to six different people, along with the instructions to elaborate on their preferences. I recieved some fascinating replies from this survey - enough to make the next step a little more interesting and complicated. Infographic of the results of the survey
Producing a coherent infographic from four different sets of data was a challenge, but since the final infographic was easily legible, I consider it a success.
From there, it was time to design the final posters, using all the information I had acquired.

Initially, I had intended to make one poster, but I couldn't decide between the three different ideas I had, so upon advisement, I chose to make all three as a set. The final posters are the sum results of the top few reasons people want to visit or return to Calistoga; food, scenery, and wine.
